INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW PRIOR TO A MINOR SURGICAL PROCEDURE UNDER INTRAVENOUS (IV) SEDATION

ESCORT: You must be accompanied by an adult responsible for driving you home after the procedure. Your escort must remain with you for 4 hours once you have left the office. You will not be allowed to leave on your own.


FOOD RESTRICTIONS: DO NOT EAT OR DRINK 6 hours before the procedure. One sip of water will be allowed if you need to take oral medication.


CLOTHING: Avoid tight fitting clothing. Short sleeved shirts facilitate the use of monitoring devices.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Avoid all activities requiring mental alertness (driving a car) for a period of 24 hours after surgery.
